Ola Belle Reed Festival August 14-16
For the past three years, Greater Lansing Area Development has presented the Ola Belle Reed Homecoming Festival as a three-day music celebration of the life and times of Ola Belle Reed to the enthusiastic reception of all in attendance. The Fourth Annual Event is scheduled for August 14-16 with a line-up including visiting artists, Blueground Undergrass, Holy Ghost Tent Revival, Dehlia Low and local favorites White Top Mountain Band, Grayson Highlands Band, and Jim Brooks and Mountain Drive.
Saturday’s schedule includes a festival debut performance by the Ashe County Gospel Quartet, Faithful Four, from the Cox Grove Baptist Church Choir. Returning to the line-up are The Sheets Family, who are planning a musical tribute to Pete Seeger, Surefire Bluegrass and Charles Welch. Traditional country roots music of Elkville String Band will open the festival on Friday at 5. The Ola Belle Reed Family & Friends will return for closing jam sessions and Sunday Morning Music Worship Service.
Located in Northwest Ashe County on NC Highway 194 N, Lansing is proud to be the birthplace of Ola Belle Reed, whose influence continues to be as strong as it is diverse. The festival is committed to honoring both the roots and the branches of her legacy as it brings Old-Time, Bluegrass, Folk, Gospel in its purity and in the evolution of its alternative sounds.
Advanced tickets are on sale at Ashe County Arts Council, Ashe County Chamber of Commerce in West Jefferson, and Lansing Foods in Lansing, NC until August 14th at 5pm. Saturday only tickets (12-9) are $10 (Gate Price: $15). Three-Day Passes are $20. Gate Prices Friday (5-9) and Sunday (11-5) are $5.
